How much does soil cost?

This article from farmprogress.com makes you think about what the cost of soil really is.  Have you considered that there is a Clean Air Act (1970) and a Clean Water Act (1972) but there is nothing to protect our soils?  What are you doing to help keep one of our most valuable resources productive?

NRCS makes the following suggestions to managing your soil health:

1.        Keep the soil covered as much as possible

2.       Disturb the soil as little as possible

3.       Keep plants growing throughout the year to feed the soil

4.       Diversify as much as possible using crop rotation and cover crops

This checklist can help you determine what practices will best fit your needs.
